Project description:
The Barcelona Maritime Museum is an open and socially conscious museum that strives to be equitable, inclusive, and accessible to all members of society. In keeping with the institution’s values, they work to promote universal accessibility and break down barriers so that people with disabilities can enjoy maritime culture and heritage.
They have multiple physical and sensory accessibility measures and are working on cognitive accessibility measures, from which this collaboration with Aprenem Autisme arises, in which they have adapted the three documents to carry out self-guided visits:
- The hidden treasures of the Guitart family
- Crew members to the galleys
- A journey out to sea
The self-guided tours have been adapted with ARASAAC pictograms (Aragonese Center for Augmentative and Alternative Communication) and can be requested at the museum ticket office for a self-guided visit.
Undoubtedly, another great initiative that has the support and recognition from ARASAAC.
